Challenges

During the development of Calorie AI, Food Scan, one of the most challenging technical issues I encountered was the inconsistency in responses from the OpenAI API when analyzing food images.

When a user uploaded a food photo, the image was sent to OpenAI’s vision endpoint to identify the food and estimate its calorie content. However, the model’s responses were highly variable, even when I sent the same image multiple times, it returned different food names and calorie values on each request.
